BIODATA OF SRI GOPAL KRISHNA : Feb 14, 2008 Gopal Krishna Das, as a third generation Hindustani vocal artist, was born into a world of music. The son of internationally respected singer & composer Pandit Sri Murari Hari, and grandson of another renowned singer & composer, Sri Dharanidhar, Gopal Krishna began studying Classical Indian music at the age of four under the expert guidance of his father and grandfather. Later, he took formal training from Pandit Shanti Sharkar of Lucknow Gharana, Pandit Nathi Sing of Haridas Sangeet Kala Niketan academy, and Ustad Ali Akhbar Shekh of Bangia Sangeet Parishad. He has been trained under both Alahabad and Lucknow Gharanas, and has mastered various styles such as Sastriya Sangeet, Bhajans, Ghazals, Nazrul Geet, etc. with Harmonium. Gopal Krishna’s repertoire also includes various styles of rhythm, such as Tabla, Nal, Dholak, and Sri Khol. With the unforgettably sweet sound of his soulful voice and his incredible dexterity with various instruments, he has captured the hearts of thousands. He has performed throughout India, as well as Mauritius, where he was selected to perform on national television, to the most cities of South Africa, Canada, United States, Mexico, & other South American Countries, such as Peru and Chile. Also have been selected for the TV artist in city of Puno for public broadcasting, and is respected internationally for his many musical talents. Gopal Krishna has been sharing his love and knowledge of Indian classical music since childhood through his inspiring performances and for over ten years through teaching. Recently, he has performed as a leading vocal artist with the Dance Troup in South America, cities like Lima, Cusco, Puno, Ikike, Machi Pichu, etc., and is currently working with various other professional artists in creating such multi-disciplinary presentations.
